He has served as a preceptor for the Washington University Internal Medicine Primary Care Track, mentoring future physicians.

Dr. Kamat is the founder and president of the St. Louis Obesity Society and a distinguished member of the St. Louis Society of Internal Medicine. His peers recognized his outstanding contributions by naming him BJC Medical Group Physician of the Year in 2020. Actively engaged in healthcare policy, he contributes to the Missouri chapter of the ACP, serving on the Missouri Health and Public Policy Committee and the Governor's Council.

Dr. Wiesehan sees patients ages 18 and above for all their primary care needs. She provides preventive care, annual wellness exams and management of complex medical conditions, including heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, COPD and asthma. Dr. Wiesehan also sees patients for sick visits and inpatient medicine. Dr. Wiesehan enjoys utilizing her medical training along with her interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with her patients and their families. She strives to create a personalized care plan to set up each patient for success. Dr. Wiesehan is originally from St. Louis and grew up in Edwardsville, Illinois. She spends much of her free time with friends and family, often taking her nieces to the St. Louis Zoo, going on walks in Forest Park and playing with her parents’ golden retriever. She also enjoys taking cycling classes on her spin bike.

Dr. Fuller is a highly respected physician and teacher who has been in practice at Missouri Baptist for more than 20 years. His practice is part of BJC Medical Group of Missouri, based at Missouri Baptist Medical Center.

Dr. Fuller has a long history of giving back to the community beginning with the mission he performed for his church. He is a volunteer physician for Casa de Salud, a clinic for impoverished Spanish-speaking patients. He received the Joe Anstey Clinal Excellence award in 2020 for his efforts during the COVID-19 Pandemic at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. He has served his religious community in numerous leadership roles and is currently leading a congregation in the inner city with his wife. He continues to engage in traditional internal medicine practice, caring for his patients in the office and in the hospital. He has for many years served as an office-based preceptor for first- and third-year medical students and for both categorical and primary care internal medicine residents.

Dr. Willliams is a hospitalist at Missouri Baptist. He was previously an academic hospitalist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital for a number of years where he supervised and taught medical students and residents. He has participated as a preceptor for the Saint Louis University Physician’s Assistant program. His teaching excellence resulted in his winning the University of Cincinnati Internal Medicine Resident Teaching Award (program wide). His focus is applying medical knowledge to clinical decision-making, integrating education and mentorship into clinical care, and clinical excellence. He works on peer review and process improvement projects. He says, “Hospitalists at Missouri Baptist have excellent work-life balance. We support every service in the hospital and have tremendous appreciation from our colleagues and consultants. I usually have my car loaded with fishing gear and (weather permitting) target local musky or trophy bass before or after work. Dr. Liss is an emergency medicine physician and medical toxicologist. Dr. Liss was the inaugural fellow of the Washington University Medical Toxicology Fellowship. He is the course director for the medical student elective in medical toxicology and directs the emergency medicine resident, off-service resident, and pediatric emergency medicine fellow rotations in medical toxicology. He is interested in drug screening and medication-assisted opioid addiction treatment.

Dr. Wagner is a board-certified physician specializing in cardiology. He provides general cardiology care for patients 18 and above. He treats coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias and valvular heart disease, and offers preventive cardiology and assessment of cardiac risk. He also performs cardiac catheterization and echocardiograms. Dr. Wagner chose to pursue cardiology after seeing his own family members diagnosed with cardiac disease. His goal is to help his patients understand the disease and symptoms they are facing and offer treatment options that work best for each individual. Dr. Wagner lives in St. Louis with his daughter and dog, who keep him busy outside of work. He enjoys playing basketball on the weekends in his free time.

Dr. Abramson earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. Dr. Abramson provides comprehensive gastroenterology care to patients ages 18 and above with gastrointestinal problems and diseases of the GI tract, including acid reflux, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, gallbladder disease, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), liver disease and pancreatic disorders. He performs colonoscopies, endoscopies, pill cameras and other diagnostic procedures and treatments for various gastroenterology conditions. Dr. Abramson specializes in gastroenterology because he finds it rewarding to diagnose GI issues and perform procedures that help patients live more fulfilling lives. Dr. Abramson enjoys spending extra time with patients and getting to know them. He is an active member of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and a former chairman of the mid-America chapter’s medical advisory panel. Dr. Abramson is married with two adult children. Outside work, he enjoys running, competing in marathons, going on long hikes, and playing piano.

Dr. Firwana predominantly sees patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, such as pancreas, stomach or colon cancers, and genitourinary (GU) cancers like bladder and prostate cancers.

“I enjoy meeting and seeing patients,” Belal said. “When I work with patients during their cancer journey, I’m always inspired by what we can achieve together.”

He also appreciates MoBap’s multidisciplinary team approach that brings together specialists from different departments. “A team approach is beneficial for patients undergoing cancer treatment. It gives them the complete care they need — and want — and sets us apart from other programs.”

Looking forward to the future of cancer treatment, Belal acknowledges that the field is always evolving with new research and clinical trials to discover treatments that can lead to better results. “I’m excited to be a part of one of the largest community oncology research programs affiliated with the National Cancer Institute,” he explained. “This affiliation gives us the opportunity to bring the results of cutting-edge science to our patients.”

Clay Anderson, MD

Dr. Anderson attended Stanford University School of Medicine, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado in Denver and medical oncology training at U. T. – M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

After returning to the University of Missouri–Columbia, he joined the School of Medicine Faculty. As hospice medical director, he initiated the Missouri Palliative Care Program, an academic palliative care program, clinic and consultation service.

He has served many roles within the Kansas City health care community such as senior medical director at NorthCare Hospice, palliative care physician at North Kansas City Hospital and palliative care medical director at Saint Luke's Health System. He also helped to lead a national palliative care initiative at Visiting Physicians Association.

Outside of work, Dr. Anderson enjoys reading, cooking and yard work. When away from home, he can be found fly-fishing, bird-watching, duck hunting, coaching or watching wrestling, and playing tennis. He enjoys fine dining and wine tastings with his wife, and both are happy to be returning to his hometown of St. Louis.

Dr. Derek Larson was born and raised in Chicago and completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Chicago (NorthShore), followed by a Chief Resident year at the same institution. He completed his fellowship training in Nephrology at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Larson has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters relating to chronic kidney disease, anemia, intravenous iron preparations, bone/mineral metabolism and transplant nephrology. In addition to being board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, he is also certified as a clinical specialist in hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.

His clinical interests include hypertension, kidney stone prevention, chronic kidney disease, home dialysis, and electrolyte disturbances.

Dr. Larson met his wife (a native St. Louisan) in Chicago and moved to St. Louis in 2012. He has two young daughters and enjoys playing the viola, scuba diving, and traveling with his family.

“I believe my graduate training in clinical psychology allows me to bring a focus to the person,” Dr. Huffman explains. “My patients represent more than their disease or condition and I strive to connect with them on a personal level.” Dr. Huffman evaluates and manages a variety of neurological conditions including, but not limited to, botulinum toxin injections for headache, dystonia and spasticity, as well as nerve block conditions. He also conducts testing with nerve conduction velocity (NCV) and electromyography (EMG) testing as well as electroencephalogram (EEG) testing. Outside of work, Dr. Huffman and his wife enjoy spending time with their children, camping and vacationing at Lake Michigan.
