Dr. Nitin Anand is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, critical care medicine and neurocritical care. He earned his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University, his medical degree from Vanderbilt School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at Washington University School of Medicine. He began his career with BJC as an instructor and hospitalist with Washington University School of Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital before joining Missouri Baptist in 2008 as an intensivist. During the pandemic, Dr. Anand served as the co-chair of the ICUs and critical care council on the COVID-19 Pandemic Task Force.


Benjamin Voss, MD

Dr. Voss is a primary care internist and member of BJC Medical Group based at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. In addition to serving as chief of medicine, he is the physician site leader for BJC Medical Group and director of continuing medical education at Missouri Baptist. An avid sportsman, he serves as baseball coach for Webster Groves Baseball League and Mary Queen of Peace Parish. From 2011 until they left St. Louis, he was team physician for the NFL Rams, during which time he received the game ball after the December 2013 New Orleans Saints game. He has replaced that hole in his life by serving as team physician for St. Louis’ XFL team, the Battlehawks. For the last five years, he has been the Gateway 180 Golf Classic Chairman. Apart from that he enjoys spending time with his wife Jenna, sons Michael and Francis, daughter Ramona, and dog Carmela. Other activities include watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, playing basketball, Ironman training and traveling with his family.

Dr. Speidel is a member of the BJC Medical Group at Missouri Baptist. Following his education at Washington University, he entered private practice in St. Louis before joining BJC Medical Group in 2011. After serving as President of the Medical Staff at Missouri Baptist, Dr. Speidel was named Chief of Cardiology in 2022. Dr. Speidel enjoys vacationing with his wife, Christine, and their children Benjamin, Nathaniel and Sylvia and granddaughter, Rosalie.

Dr. Martin has been in the MBMC Critical Care Department since 1995 and the Director of Critical Care at MBMC for the past 15 years. He’s been involved in Leadership at MBMC serving as the President Elect and President of the Medical Staff, Chair of the Ethics Committee along with numerous other committees. Currently, besides bedside care, he is focusing on quality measures within the Critical Care Department.

Dr. Rilpuou is an Endocrinologist and member of BJC Medical Group based at Missouri Baptist Medical Center . He focuses on the treatment of endocrine disorders, diabetes and bone health.

Clay Anderson, MD

Dr. Anderson attended Stanford University School of Medicine, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Colorado in Denver and medical oncology training at U. T. – M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

After returning to the University of Missouri–Columbia, he joined the School of Medicine Faculty. As hospice medical director, he initiated the Missouri Palliative Care Program, an academic palliative care program, clinic and consultation service.

He has served many roles within the Kansas City health care community such as senior medical director at NorthCare Hospice, palliative care physician at North Kansas City Hospital and palliative care medical director at Saint Luke's Health System. He also helped to lead a national palliative care initiative at Visiting Physicians Association.

Outside of work, Dr. Anderson enjoys reading, cooking and yard work. When away from home, he can be found fly-fishing, bird-watching, duck hunting, coaching or watching wrestling, and playing tennis. He enjoys fine dining and wine tastings with his wife, and both are happy to be returning to his hometown of St. Louis.


Kevin DeHaan, MD

Dr. DeHaan is the MBMC local interim medical director for BJCMG Hospitalists. Following his residency, he practiced in a community teaching hospital as a hospitalist and resource utilization director in Arlington, Virginia. He joined the MBMC Hospitalist program seven years ago, and has served as a lead hospitalist for the last four.  This team cares for nearly 70% of all MBMC medical-surgery patients.

Dr. Derek Larson was born and raised in Chicago and completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Chicago (NorthShore), followed by a Chief Resident year at the same institution. He completed his fellowship training in Nephrology at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Larson has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters relating to chronic kidney disease, anemia, intravenous iron preparations, bone/mineral metabolism and transplant nephrology. In addition to being board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, he is also certified as a clinical specialist in hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.  

His clinical interests include hypertension, kidney stone prevention, chronic kidney disease, home dialysis, and electrolyte disturbances.

Dr. Larson met his wife (a native St. Louisan) in Chicago and moved to St. Louis in 2012. He has two young daughters and enjoys playing the viola, scuba diving, and traveling with his family.


James Alonso, MD

Dr. Alonso treats neurological conditions including headaches, epilepsy, stroke and movement disorders. He sees adult patients for evaluation of central nervous system and peripheral nerve disorders. Lizette Alvarez, MD

Board-certified and practicing in St. Louis area since 1996, physiatrist Dr. Alvarez practices rehabilitation medicine in both inpatient and outpatient settings with a special interest in the treatment of spasticity and amputations. She is experienced in the use of botulinum toxins for the treatment of spasticity, migraines and cervical dystonia. She also manages spasticity with the use of intrathecal baclofen pumps. Dr. Alvarez works with therapy as well as prosthetics and orthotics and serves as the director for the inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. When not treating patients, Dr. Alvarez spends time with her family and enjoys reading and cooking.

Dr. Daud's career began in 2006 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center as a pulmonologist and sleep medicine specialist. His current practice includes five doctors who see consults in the hospital and provide ambulatory care in office. All diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopic procedures are performed within the practice suite. The active lung cancer screening program, pulmonary function testing lab and interventional pulmonary suite is also on the Missouri Baptist campus.
