“You only get one life”

Michelle Mondello was breastfeeding her youngest child of three when she noticed a lump in her breast. Michelle was only 35 years old and had no family history of breast cancer. Because of her age and background, she wasn’t a candidate for regular mammograms. But after a biopsy at the Breast HealthCare Center at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Michelle was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), an aggressive form of cancer that accounts for 10 to 15 percent of all breast cancers.

In 2018, the Champions came together to purchase four new radiant warmers for our tiniest patients in Labor & Delivery and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Each Panda Warmer costs $17,725.

  • Panda Warmers are utilized in all births to immediately warm the baby as the pediatric teams assess the infant.
  • The special warming properties allow the baby to stay open (unclothed and unwrapped) for the team to easily assess and evaluate the baby, and for footprints and banding.
  • The latest Panda Warmers provide easy access to controls for oxygen, suctioning, weighing the baby, and emergency equipment needed to maintain airway.
